Improvements to CSV Combiner, newest first.

  1. Smart merge and better CSV handling

    • New: smart merge combines files with different columns by lining them up by name.
    • Fixed: cells with line breaks, such as multi-line posts, no longer split into extra rows.
    • Fixed: “Skip empty rows” no longer removes blank lines inside cells.
    • Semicolon, tab and pipe-separated files are detected automatically, with a Separator option to choose one.
    • .tsv and .txt files are accepted, including Excel's Unicode Text format.
    • Combined files keep accents, other languages and emoji when opened in Excel.
    • Warnings when files have different columns or separators.
    • Faster pages and better support for keyboard and screen reader users.

  2. Refreshed design

    • Clearer explanations of each option.
    • Your options are remembered between visits.
    • Clearer messages when a file can't be used.

  3. Remove duplicate rows

    • New option to keep only one copy of rows that are exactly the same.

  4. Automatic download

    • The combined file now downloads as soon as it's ready.

  5. Report a bug

    • Report problems straight from the site with the “Report a Bug” link.

  6. File name column

    • New option to add a column showing which file each row came from.

  7. Options and drag and drop

    • Drag and drop files onto the page.
    • Options for header rows and empty rows.
